Some Banana & Strawberry Fruit Puree pouches may contain a strand of plastic in the finished product, but no injuries have been reported

Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics is voluntarily recalling certain Banana & Strawberry Fruit Puree pouches for babies and toddlers after learning that some pouches may have a thin strand of clear plastic in the finished product.
The company says the presence of plastic is a manufacturing defect, and it was alerted to the issue by its packaging supplier. “The defect has the potential to result in a thin, soft strand of the inner pouch material becoming detached, and leaving the pouch when squeezed,” the company states on its website.
A spokesperson for Pumpkin Tree says that the company has received three reports of incidents. “[I]n all three cases, the soft plastic defect was detected by the parent, and no harm was reported,” the spokesperson says. It’s estimated that approximately 380,000 pouches were shipped, and the spokesperson says only a very small number is thought to have contained a defect.
No other Pumpkin Tree products or flavors are affected by the recall. The 4-ounce Banana & Strawberry fruit purée pouches for children 6 months and older were sold at Kroger, Meijer, and Target stores across the U.S. between March 6 and July 13, 2026.
Pumpkin Tree says it is working with retailers and its packaging supplier to remove potentially affected pouches from shelves.
It’s important to check your pantry for the pouches and not feed them to anyone, the FDA says. You can return the pouches to the store where you purchased them for a refund.
One potential point of confusion is that Pumpkin Tree also makes a Strawberry & Banana pouch, which looks similar to the Banana & Strawberry pouch that’s been recalled. “The Strawberry & Banana is not being recalled; the Banana & Strawberry pouches with the three unique identifiers [listed below] are being recalled,” the spokesperson says. The pouches have different UPCs.
“We will continue to provide clear updates and support to consumers, retailers, and regulators as we work to understand what went wrong and make sure it cannot happen again,” the company wrote in a statement.

The FDA recall announcement specifies that the recalled Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry 4 oz. (113 g) pouches can be identified by the following codes, which are stamped in black ink on the rear of the pouch:
• Barcode: 8 15367 01078 0
• Lane number—identified by the number “4” printed on the rear right-hand side seam
• Best-Before-Dates (BBD) include:

01/20/2027
03/17/2027
03/18/2027
05/14/2027
05/15/2027
The recall affects only the products with codes listed above. Do not consume the recalled product or feed the product to your child. No other Pumpkin Tree products are impacted by the recall. The pouches were sold between March 6 and July 13, 2026.
You can return any recalled pouches to the store where you purchased them for a refund, even if they’re opened.
